I have always been a crafter. Learning how to do crafts led me to take painting classes and woodshop in high school. The last thing on my mind was what I am going to study in college. I knew I wanted to go, but I just wanted to play softball on the next level. So, when I started my college search, I took an offer at Big Bend Community College. Now I had to pick what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I couldn’t decide; I guess I would just have to start my own business then. Wait, that was a brilliant idea. I could start my own business one day.

So then as my freshman year came around, I started working towards by Associate’s degree in Business. But boy was it not what I was expecting. Most of it sure, made sense, but accounting, stocks and bonds, and finance were not for me. Through my two years of attending Big Bend and taking business classes I learned that I really liked the advertising and marketing classes compared to the rest. So, when the time came and I received my AA, I transferred to Central Washington University to study business administration with a minor in digital marketing.

At Big Bend, I had made the president’s list every quarter; I had received grades higher than I ever did in high school. This was the sign that I had chosen the right path for me. Although I am strictly an online student now, I have pushed myself harder to keep achieving in my academics. In three quarters I have made the Dean’s list for all of them. As I start my senior year, the content that I learn is exciting. It is more specific, and it makes me confident for my future.

I currently have many hobbies, including crafting, sewing, and planting, I have been working a part time job now that I’ve retired from softball, I’ve moved three different times in two years. So far there has been significant changes in my life, especially due to the pandemic. But one thing has stayed certain. My career choice is still something that I see myself excelling at. Certainty is in short supply, but it is nice to know that I have something to rely on that keeps me working towards my goals.
