Today is December 1st, or as all Spotify users say, "Spotify Wrapped just dropped." Basically, every year, the music sharing app Spotify, compiles lists for every individual user that displays total minutes listened, how many times you listened to your favorite song, your top artists, your top genres, and your top songs. It has become one of the most popular social media posts every year, as they wrap up your statistics into one easy-to-share infographic.
I asked my friends to send me their Spotify Wrapped 2021 and I realized how different we are when it comes to music. That's what makes this feature so special. Spotify has millions of songs to choose from which makes our results so unique.
But even this year, Spotify released a new feature called "Audio Aura". It is a picture comprised of colors that capture the overall vibe from the music that you listen to. "Spotify developer Ziad Sultan teamed up with the celebrity aura reader and medium Mystic Michaela to create the new feature, which takes advantage of the streaming platform's meticulously categorized "mood" tags accompanying each song in the app's backend." When we choose a song to listen to, it usually compliments our mood. Adding this feature gives the listeners more insight into what mood they felt the most according to the music they listened to.

Though this feature hasn't seemed to capture as much attention compared to the actual statistics, it can still provide listeners with insight to how to select songs that match our moods or other songs we like.
In an interview with Michaela she mentions, "It's actually creating a moment and opportunity for you to look at your playlist in a way where you're asking yourself really deep questions, and really opening yourself up to what it is exactly that you're grasping for in life, which I think was cool.” But before users dig too deep into their meaning, "Even if your audio aura doesn't resonate with who you actually are, it's going to resonate with a part of you that's like, what am I reaching for? What are my goals? What energy do I try to align with daily? I think that's something I would say to people."
So as December begins and you see people posting their Spotify Wrapped on social media, take a second to look at their aura and their top music and maybe you'll learn a little more about them.
